DAY 1: Grosseto

Morning transfer. Arrival in the early afternoon.

Guided tour of Grosseto.  This town developed around 935, when the Saracen pirates destroyed the ancient city of Roselle. The town centre is surrounded by medieval walls that, during the centuries, have kept their original appearance.

At the end of the visit, transfer to the hotel.

Dinner and overnight accommodation at the hotel.

 

DAY 2: Talamone, Horse carriages and Castiglione della Pescaia

Breakfast and departure. In the morning, guided visit of Talamone. Located on a promontory overlooking Mount Argentario and the Islands of the Tuscan Archipelago, Talamone is a small medieval village surrounded by a picturesque seaside landscape.

The morning continues with a carriage tour in the Maremma National Park. Here, it will be possible to admire the unspoiled nature of this paradise, while being comfortably seated on the characteristic Maremma horse-drawn carriages.

Lunch based on typical products in a restaurant of the area.

Guided visit of Castiglione della Pescaia during the afternoon, a beautiful seaside village that overlooks the coast. Inside the walls of the Aragonese Castle, it is still possible to admire the medieval charm of different buildings built with the characteristic stones.

At the end of the visit, return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

 

DAY 3: Orbetello Lagoon, Ferry Boat Tour, Lunch with fishermen and Mount Argentario

Breakfast and departure.  Guided visit of Orbetello during the morning. Orbetello is located in the middle of the lagoon that has the same name and it is joined to Mount Argentario by an artificial dam that divides the lagoon into two bodies of water. Nowadays, Orbetello is a famous tourist destination and a protected area, where fishing farming and fishing activities are extremely important.

The morning continues with a ferryboat tour of the Orbetello Lagoon.

Lunch is organised in a local restaurant run by fishermen. This restaurant stands where there was once nineteenth-century stable. The inside of the building still has its original appearance, with wooden beams and terracotta bricks. In the charming location, It will be possible to taste the products of the lagoon.

Guided tour of Porto Ercole during the afternoon. In 1550, the Spaniards founded the “Stato dei Presidi”, and Porto Ercole was designated as its capital. In order to defend the town, unconquerable fortresses were built. The walkways, the paths overlooking the sea and the beauty of the hidden gardens make this visit unique and breathtaking.

The tour continues with the visit of Porto Santo Stefano: a well-known tourist destination, it is a small town overlooking the sea. Here, it will be possible to enjoy a peaceful walk among the typical shops.

We don’t want our guests to leave without a tasty souvenir of this trip: that is why a gastronomic lottery of typical Italian cold cuts will be offered during the last dinner together, as well as a parting gift: a bottle of high quality local extra virgin olive oil.

 

DAY 4: Massa Marittima

Breakfast and departure. In the morning, visit of Massa Marittima. A true town of the Tuscan Middle Ages, it preserves an extraordinary square surrounded by buildings of the power of the thirteenth-century. They are the famous Cathedral of S. Cerbone, built in travertine, Palazzo Comunale, Torre della Zecca and Palazzo Pretorio. This town is also surrounded by fourteenth-century walls and fortifications. Another interesting building is the marvellous Gothic Church of S. Agostino, inside which is kept the habit of St. Bernardino, who was born here in 1380.

At the end of the visit, free time to have lunch in a restaurant of the area.

Departure and return to home.
